Making Community Christmas a success in 2010 |
Caroline Billington from a-count-a-bility became aware of Verbatim, the phone answering service, as a result of running her own business and the strong reputation Verbatim has in the local business community. She was really happy to accept their support in making Community Christmas a success in 2010. 
Christmas can be a time of great joy for those that can be with their friends and families. Unfortunately the reality can be very different for some and Community Christmas seeks to provide a social environment with good food for the elderly that do not want to be on their own on Christmas day. 
This year 52 guests were transported to the hall where they enjoyed carols and other musical entertainment before a full Christmas dinner, and then after the Queens speech they were then driven home. Meals were taken to a further 12 people who were either unable to get to the hall or preferred to just have the company of a couple of volunteers. 88 volunteers registered an interest in helping with the driving, cooking, serving, companionship and preparations for the day of whom 60 (plus entertainers) were ‘called to action’. This represents quite a logistical challenge and Caroline said ‘ We would not have been able to run Community Christmas without Verbatim’s invaluable support – they handled all our calls allowing us to return them in our ‘free time’ and cope with our ‘day jobs’ as well’. |
