Verbatim's old bulls are Backing Young Britain!
Berkshire company receives Government and Ministerial recognition

Berkshire based Verbatim has received Government and Ministerial recognition for the role it’s playing in helping young people into employment. Around 25 per cent of Verbatim’s work force is under 24, with all being given the chance to work towards an NVQ 2 and 3 in customer service.

The company is looking to take on a further apprentice in 2010. Verbatim’s pledge to provide Apprenticeship opportunities to young people needing that first step on the career ladder, has earned it the support of the Government’s Backing Young Britain campaign. In addition Backing Young Britain will be including Verbatim in a new advertising campaign to be launched soon. Verbatim’s commitment to reducing youth unemployment has also come to the attention of Jim Knight, the Minister of State for Employment and Welfare Reform. On hearing about Hayley Ryan, who joined Verbatim in 2008 as a client services assistant and virtual receptionist and is now completing an NVQ Level 2 in customer service, the Rt Hon Jim Knight wrote to Hayley.

He thanked her for the encouragement her story will give “other young people who are still looking for employment – providing proof that an individual’s potential can be realized and showing just what’s possible.” Hayley says “The training that Verbatim has given me and the opportunity to study for an NVQ has really boosted my confidence and I have seen the difference when dealing with clients. My future is bright because I am now being given the chance to work with the Directors on marketing and sales. I hope that this will become a full time role in 2010.”

Verbatim’s Managing Director Graham Hill maintains “Investing in a young workforce has provided many employer and business benefits. It allows you to mould and develop your team – something which has contributed to our low staff turnover – unique in our industry. Having a balance between young and older members of staff contributes to a vibrant and productive working environment, with young people bringing a certain energy. Our ethos will quite simply always be about giving young people a chance.”
