Jodie Piper, Receptionist - You had your first baby in May. How are you enjoying being a Mum? Yes, I had little Molly on May 24th so she’s nine months now. I am loving everything about being a Mum! She’s getting to that age now where she’s into anything and everything. Believe it or not she’s almost walking - she stands and balances and you can just tell she’s going to go for it any day... - Who won the office sweep stake predicting baby's weight? Lizzie won it - I’m not sure exactly what she predicted, but Molly was 8lbs 4oz. I’m glad Nick didn’t win - he predicted an even bigger baby than that! - You're back at work now after maternity leave. What made you want to come back and are you enjoying it? Well, whilst I love being at home with Molly, I knew I’d need to come back to work and it’s nice to be back amongst the team at Verbatim. I’d been here five years before I went on maternity leave, so I count everyone here as a friend. I did miss the social side of it whilst I was off, and it’s so nice to have conversation with another adult during the day now! I’ve been back two months and love the relaxed atmosphere. I’ve brought Molly’s in a few times to meet everyone. I get to sit down here during the day, which gives me a bit of a rest! - The company are obviously great about accommodating flexible working. Yes, there are quite a few part-timers here - for instance, my Mum and I job-share, when one of us is here, the other is looking after Molly. It is great to know you can talk to your employer about flexible working. - Have you got time for anything other than being a Mum and work? I’m actually doing an accountancy course in any spare time I do have! It’s a practical book-keeping course - it’s something that’s interested me for a while, and I think it will be useful in the long-term. I’m treating it like a hobby which really stimulates my brain.
